Bio
Kulvinder has been practicing Pilates for over 26 years. An Internationally Certified Pilates teacher through the accredited NPCP (National Pilates Certification Program), she teaches the full Pilates repertoire on all the Pilates equipment.
She first developed a passion for Pilates in 1998. Pilates was unlike anything she had experienced! It was unique, intelligent —It was life changing. She was hooked and the “fix” led to a quest to learn more.
Kulvinder initially participated in the “Contemporary” style of Pilates for 10 years. In 2007 she discovered the more rigorous and challenging “Classical” method of Pilates with the amazing Noam Gagnon. It was different; tough, disciplined and challenging. This is the method she finally chose to teach and practice.
Her initial two teacher trainings were in the “Contemporary” style of Pilates. In 2002 with Dianne Miller Pilates, (influenced by Ron Fletcher) and in 2008 with Marta Hernandez, through the PhysicalMind Institute.
2014 is when she began her training in the Classical method, through the world renowned, Pilates Center in Boulder, Colorado (with Matilda Christensen, from her North Vancouver studio, Pilates at the Centre). In 2023 she returned for yet another 1 year program. Her continual thirst to acquire more knowledge will always keep her returning as a student.
Kulvinder fuses a well-rounded knowledge of movement studies through her background in various lineages of Pilates and a variety of complimentary disciplines such as gyrotonics, yoga and dance. Related studies also influence her work: studies of the pelvic floor, myofasial studies, Eric Franklin, reflexology, proprioceptive studies, crano-sacrial studies, and idiokenesis.
Kulvinders’ unique advantage relates to being on both sides of Pilates. As a client: for 14 years being privileged to be taught by dozens of teachers from different lineages. As a Teacher trainee: studying in four programs delivered by Master teachers. The combinations have broadened her horizons and added unique perspective and insight in shaping her as a teacher.
